The Caverns of Braich Goch Mountain
The Corris Valley is crowned at its northern end by
the magnificent Cader Idris whose craggy summit ridge reaches nearly 1,000
metres. Here are landscapes of compelling beauty, mirror lakes, bare and
pine-forested peaks and rocky cairns.
Driving north from Machynlleth the A487 winds its way up the pine, beech
and oak-clad valley past the villages of Corris and Corris Uchaf, whose
picturesque cottages used to house the slate quarry workers.
Corris Craft Centre is situated midway between the two villages on the
A487 trunk road. This is the starting point for King Arthur's Labyrinth
and you are invited to see at first hand the skills of the craft workers
and displays of woodcraft, toy making, pottery, jewellery, leatherwork and
handmade candles, while the Labyrinth shop sells books and gifts on the
Celtic Arthurian theme. The Crwybr Restaurant provides meals and
refreshments throughout the day. There is a picnic area in the gardens and
an extensive children's adventure playground.
